abstract | Method comprises adding alkali to ferrous salt soln. to adjust the soln. to more than pH 11, and carrying out oxidn. reaction, . The oxidn. reaction is carried out using nitrate such that the proportion of anions to ferrous ions is less than 1. The acicular goethite obtd. is suitable for mfr. of fine magnetic powder having a good magnetic characteristics. esp. a high coercive force. In an example to 1l of water there were dissolved 167g or FeSO4.7H2O crystal, and added 168g of NaOH, and adjusted totally 1.5l. The soln. was stood for 6 hrs. to form ppte. Then, 750mL of supernatant of the soln. was removed, and 42.5g of NaNO3 was added to the residual soln., and total volume of the soln. was made 1.5L. The soln. was oxidised at 50 deg.C. The resulting ppte. was sepd. by filtration and reduced at 500 deg.C with hydrogen. The metal obtd. had Hc 1500 Oe, sigma S 130 emu/g and sigma r/sigma s 0.570. |
