abstract In a new water-insol. enzyme compsn. in which the enzyme is bound via a transitional metal halide or a polyfunctional organic cpd. as coupling agent, the coupling agent is situated on an etched and aminosilane-treated glass surface. The enzyme compsn. is produced by successive treatment of an etched glass surface (pref. in the form of a spiral) with aminosilanes, with a transition metal halide or polyfunctional organic cpd. as coupling agent, and with an enzyme soln. Used as immobilised enzyme reagent for performing clinical-diagnostic reactions in automatic analysers. The carrier is resistant to microbial attack, and can be fabricated in a tubular form which is easy to incorporate into automatic analysers. Binding of the enzyme to the carrier is simple, and the immobilised enzyme has high enzymatic activity and prolonged storage stability.
