abstract | Reserve printing process involves treating a developable metallised dyestuff (I) based on (substd.) 2-amino-5-imino-pyrrolenine (II) on the fabric with a complexing agent (III) with a greater complexing tendency for the metal than that of (II). The process is specified for printing cellulose fabric. It is esp. useful for light colours. (I) contains Cu, Ni or Co. (III) is EDTA and/or diethylene triamine (IIIA). The reserve paste contains EDTA and/or (IIIA) and the reaction prod. of a mixt. of (A)(II) of formula (II) (in which RI and RII are alkyl, phenyl, H or together are a S-CH2-CH2-S, CR1=CR2-CR3-CR4 or CH2-CH2-CH2 gp.; R1, R2, R3 and R4 are phenyl, alkoxy, halogen, phenoxy, alkyl or H) with (B) cpd(s). of the classes (a) cpds. of formula (III) (in which Y completes an opt. substd. 5- or 6-membered heterocycle, which can also contain 1-3 (1 or 2) other hetero-atoms, e.g. N, S or O, and can be condensed with a (substd.) carbocyclic and/or heterocyclic ring), (b) polyamines, (c) CH-acid cpds. and (d) aryl-amides or 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid and (C) a diazo-amino cpd. in the presence of a metal (cpd.), which can be used for the prepn. of metallised phthalocyanines, opt. in the presence of a diluent, with heating. |
