abstract Thermoplastic quat. polymers (A) contain, by mol., (a) 55-30(55-40)% C2F4, (b) 60-40(55-45)% C2H4, (c) 10-1.5(8-3) esp. 5-3% C3F6 and (d) 2.5-0.05(1-0.1) esp. 0.8-0.2% of at least one vinyl monomer consisting of a (d1) perfluorinated olefin having formula CF2=CF-Rf1 (where Rf1 is 2-10C perfluoroalkyl), (d2) perfluorinated vinyl ether CF2=CF-O-Rf2 (where Rf2 is 2-10C perfluoroalkyl), (d3) perfluorinated vinyl ether having formula CF2=CF-O-(CF2-CF(CF3) -O)n-CF2-CF2-CF3 (where n is 1-4), (d4) perfluorinated vinyl ether having formula (I) (where n is 0-1), (d5) perfluoro-2-methylene-4-Me-1,3-dioxolan, (d6) perfluorinated vinyl ether having formula CF2=CF-O-(CF2)n-COX1 (where X1 is F, OH, OR1 or NR2R3; R1 is 1-3C alkyl; R2 and R3 each is H or R1 and n is 1-10), (d7) perfluorinated vinyl ether having formula CF2=CF-O-(CF2- CF(CF3)-O)n-CF2-CF2-X2 (where X2 is COOR4, COOH or CN: R4 is 1-4C alkyl and n is 1-4), (d8) perfluoroalkyl-substd. vinyl cpds. having formula CH2=CH-Rf3 (where Rf3 is 2-10C per-luoroalkyl), (d9) 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl) -4-penten-2-ol, (d10) allyl-1- hydroxyhexafluoro -isopropyl ether, (d11) fluorinated allyl ethers having formula CH2=CR5-CH2-O-CF2-CFX3H (where X3 is F, Cl, or CF3 and R5 is H or Me), (d12) fluorinated vinyl ether having formula CH2=CH-O-CF2-CFX3H (where X3 is F, Cl or CF3), (d13) allyl or methallyl ester having formula CH2=CR6-CH2-OCO-R7 (where R6 is H or Me and R7 is 1-3C alkyl), (d14) vinyl ester having formula CH2=CH-O-COR8 (where R8 is 1-3C alkyl). (A) are used in the prodn. of extruded or injection-moulded articles, mono-filaments and electrical conductor wire insulations. C3F6 and bulky side chain-contg. (d) incorporation improves tensile strength and esp. elongation at break at higher temps.
