abstract | Alpha-Vinyl-phenoxy-benzyl 3-dihalovinyl-2,2-dimethyl- cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters (I) are new. R1, R2 and R3 are H, Cl, Br, F or 1-5C alkyl or alkenyl; X is O, S or CH2; R4 and R5 are halogen or 1-5C alkyl, alkoxy or haloalkyl; and a and b are 0, 1, 2 or 3; provided that R1, R2 and R3 are other than H or Br when a and b are both 0. (I) are insects and acaricides. Thus, when cabbage leaves are dipped in a 0.001% emulsion of alpha-vinyl-3-(p-fluorophenoxy) benzyl 3-(2,2-dichlorovinyl)-2,2-dimethylcyclo propanecarboxylate and placed on a moist filter in a Petri dish with 10 4th instar larvae of Plutella maculipennis, mortality is 80% after 48 hrs. |
