Prepn. of pivaloylacetic 2-chloro-5-(4-(2,4-di-tert.amyl) - phenoxybutyramido)-anilide (I) involves reacting pivaloylacetic 2-chloro-5-amino-anilide (II) with a 4-(2,4-di-tert.-amyl)- phenoxybutyryl halide (III) at -50 to +150 (-25 to 110) deg.C in an organic solvent (IV), opt. in the presence of a base (V). (I) is a valuable intermediate for the mfr. of colour film components. The process is simpler than usual and has ecological advantages. Pref. (IV) is MeOH and (V) an organic base, esp. pyridine. (III) is the acid chloride (IIIA). |
