abstract | d-Glaucine phosphate (I) is new. It is an antitussive agent with an oral ED50 of 170.1 mg/kg and analgesic. Its lack of a bitter taste makes it much simpler to administer than the free alkaloid. (I) is prepd. by treating d-glaucine with at least 1/4 molar excess of phosphoric acid. This may be effected in an inert organic solvent such as acetone, ethanol, chloroform etc. |
