titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PRODUCING HEAT-CURABLE COPOLYMERS
abstract Heat hardenable binder comprises a copolymer contg. glycidyl (meth)acrylate and/or hydroxy (meth)acrylate with to give the copolymer a total hydroxy number of 10-160 mg KOH/g and glyoxalic acid in an equivalent amt. corresponding to 70-120% of the hydroxy number. (The total hydroxy numb er is the sum of free or latent OH gps. and a glycidyl gp. corresponds to 2 OH gps.). The copolymer pref. contains the same amt. of OH and glycidyl gps. Pref. an equivalent amt. of glyoxalic acid to the sum of free and latent OH gps. is used. The binder is used for lacquering metal films esp. Al films and has lower stoving temps. and times. The coated films can be rolled up or stacked after drying without adhesion and are resistant to solvents. The foils can be used in packaging.
