titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR PRODUCING CONDENSATION PRODUCTS |
abstract | Prodn. of condensn. prods. involves reacting (I) methylol ethers of urea- and/or aminotriazine-HCHO condensates and monohydric 1-4C alcohols. (II) polyhydric alcohols and/or alkyd resins with over 4% OH content as polyhydroxyl cpds., and (III) aromatic and/or cyclic and/or heterocyclic polycarboxylic acids with min. 2 COOH gps. above 40 deg.C, opt. in the presence of solvents. In Parent Patent 2116511, (II) are (partly) replaced by unsatd. hydroxyalkyl ethylenecarboxylates (IIA). In this patent of addn., (IIA) are (partly) replaced by acrylate resins (IIB) contg. OH gps. Polycondensates are specified for use as binders for coating compsns. They are esp. useful in vehicle clear lacquers for metallic effects and in coil coating and electrophoretic compsns. They have high hardness and elasticity and good solvent resistance and are fast drying. |
