titleOfInvention METHOD FOR PRODUCING L-AMINOANTHRACHONONE (BETA) CARBONIC ACIDS
abstract Prepn. of 4-X-1-aminoanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acids (I) (where X is H or halogen) is carried out by treating the corresp. 4-X-2-acetyl 1-aminoanthraquinone (II) with hypochlorite at 60-100 deg.C in an aq. medium in the presence of at least 3 (pref. 3-5) moles of alkali metal hydroxide per mole of (II). (I) are intermediates for dispersion dyes, vat dyes and pigments. The process is simple, economic, and gives high yields of high-purity (I).
