titleOfInvention DI- AND / OR OLIGOMERIZATION OF NITRILES AND USE OF THE PRODUCTS PRODUCED AS ANTISTATICS AND FLAME-RETARDANT
abstract Nitriles having formula R-CN, (I), or dinitriles having formula NC-R3-CN, (II), (where R is -CHR1R2 or -C(R1)2R2; R3 is -CHR1-R4-CHR1-; R1, R2 are H, opt. unsatd. opt. branched aliphatic hydrocarbyl, aryl, cycloaliphatic or opt. substd. aromatic hydrocarbyl and R4 is opt. branched alkylene, alkylene oxide, cycloalkylene or opt. substd. arylene, arylene oxide or arylene sulphone) are dimerised and/or oligomerised with organic peroxides, at 120-200 deg.C, in a protective gas atmos. The dimers and/or oligomers are new. Dimer and/or oligomer use as antistatic finishes and/or as flame-retardants for plastics and fibres is claimed. The prods. can also be used as high-boiling solvents and as starting materials for the corresp. acids, their derivs. and, after redn., for prim. amines. The dimers and/or oligomers do not sweat out of plastics and have high complex-forming capacity for metal salts.
