abstract The drive for a hydraulic or pneumatic system uses a drive element (1) which extends parallel to the optical fibre and forms a flexible shaft driven via a motor or a hose. The drive element (1) and the optical fibre are enclosed by a common protective outer sheath (3), which may also include conductor wires for signal and/or energy transmission. Pref. the optical fibre end projects into a fixed tube (50) where the laser beam, received via the optical fibre (2), is deflected by a mirror (23) through 90 deg.. The fixed tube (50) is surrounded by a quartz tube (24) with an exit window (25) for the laslaser beam and which is rotatable via the drive element (1). The quartz tube (24) can be inserted in a body aperture for laser surgery.
