In a new process for the prodn. of a citrate-stabilised iron (III) oxide hydrate sol., an aq. citric acid soln. is passed, while air or an O2-contg. inert gas is simultaneously blown in, through a packing of coarse particles of iron metal until the soln. is satd. with Fe. The soln. may be subsequently evapd. Used for preparing iron for use in human and veterinary medicine. The soln. is useful in the prodn. of e.g. injections or tinctures, while the gel is useful for the prodn. of tablets. The process is simple and inexpensive giving clear, highly concentrated sols and gels of high purity. |
