The cell has a lithium anode, a porous separator, a porous cathode, and a case of a material inert w.r.t. the electrolyte used in the cell. The porous separator is between the anode and the cathode whose leads are brought out. The case is hermetically sealed, and a container holds a solution of an alkali halide salt in thionyl chloride or sulphuryl chloride serving as electrolyte. It is tightly sealed in the container made of a material which can be mechanically broken releasing the electrolyte and activating the cell. |
