titleOfInvention FILTER PRESS
abstract Filter press has two carriages mounted on toothed rails running along the side of the plates, the plates being clamped together by a hydraulic ram. One carriage has a pickup arm in the form of a lever which fits behind projections on the sides of each plate and moves them in turn to the other side of the press for cleaning etc. The other carriage has a fork which slots onto the projection on the next plate and holds it while the one in front is pulled away. The pickup arm on the first carriage is a pivotted lever which tilts when the carriage is moved back against the next plate. This serves to depress the cylinder controlling the fork locked onto this plate and thus to release it. The carriage on which the fork is mounted then moves back and locks onto the next butone plate. The front carriage then extracts the next plate. For use as filter presses. Automatic opening presses are known as described in parent patent. The system here described is much simpler in concept and more reliable in operation.
