abstract The continuous measuring arrangement is for the soot content in flue gases from oil furnaces. The flue gas is drawn through a continuously moving filter belt over an extracting hole. The level of blackening is evaluated by an electro-optical light reflectoring measuring unit installed close to the extracting hole. The result is shown in soot-count units. A reflectometer can be used for the light reflection measuring in which a photodiode is positioned coaxially in a transparent body serving as a light conductor. The emergent side is formed as a truncated cone facet. All the outer sides are smooth. The flue gas can be cooled below the dew point in a heat exchanger before passing through the filter band and then heated again from the released heat in the opposing stream.
