abstract |
New azo di-isobutyric (N,N'-hydroxyalkyl) amidines are of formula (I): (in which R and R' are 2-4C alkylene; X is R'-OH or H). (I) are useful as free radical initiators in polymerisation or crosslinking processes opt. with foaming, and as blowing agents in prodn. of foams. Dispersions with improved stability are obtd., without coagulation or corrosion problems during polymerisation. Polymers with hydrophilic hydroxy-alkyl end gps. are obtd., crosslinkable with formaldehyde resins and giving coatings with improved adhesion and water resistance. |
