abstract Azolyl cpds. of formula R1-C(Az)H-C(COR2)(COR3)H (I) and their plant-tolerable salts and metal complexes are new. In (I) R1 is aryl or heteroacryl, opt. substd. by >=1, same or different, halo, 1-4C opt. branched alkyl or alkoxy(themselves opt. halo substd.), NO2, OH or CN; R2 and R3 are each 1-3C opt. branched alkyl, OR4 or NR5R6; Az is 1,2,4-triazol-1-yl, 1-imidazolyl or 1-pyrazolyl; R4 is opt. branched 1-6C alkyl (opt. substd. by alkoxy, alkylthio or halo), alkenyl or alkynyl, is not >6C cycloalkyl or phenyl opt. substd. by >=1 opt. branched 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, halo, CR3 or NO2; R5 and R6 are each H, opt. branched is not >6C alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl, is not >6C cycloalkyl or phenyl opt. substd. as for R4; or NR5R6 is morpholino, piperidino or pyrrolidino, opt. substd. by is not >4C opt. branched alkyl gps. (I) are prepd. by reacting AzH with R1-CH=C(COR2)COR3. (I) are nematocides, esp. useful against soil nematodes. They have low toxicity towards plants and warm-blooded animals and high selectivity.
