titleOfInvention ELASTOMER, ENDLESS TRANSMISSION BELT
abstract The belt comprises tension, compression and load-carrying sections, at least one being of rubber with embedded discrete aramid fibres held in position with an adhesive consisting of (parts per 100 parts rubber) 1-2.5 resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, 20-40 precipitated hydrated silica and 2-6 melamine resin. Each fibre has an aspect ratio of 100-2000, and the rubber is neoprene. The belt may have a platform section on one or both sides of the tension section, and one or all sections may have fibre reinforcement, pref. at 5-20 parts per 100 parts by wt. rubber for tension and compression sections, and 30-50 parts for load-carrying and platform sections. The belt surface is pref. free of covers. The arrangement provides an economical and reliable belt.
