titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR THE CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF SULPHAMIDES
abstract Continuous reaction of sulphochlorides (II) with NH3 or amines (having >=1 N-H) to give (N-substd.) sulphamides (I), uses a reactor with external circulation (i.e. a loop reactor) at mole ratio (II) NH3 or amine of 1:2-2.2. Pref. the ratio of vol. circulation rate of reaction mixt. (V2): vol feed rate of reactants (equal to rate of prod. withdrawal) (V1) is 100-10:1, esp. 20:1. Reaction is pref. under condensed phase conditions, pref. 0-100 (3-20) degrees C, opt. in presence of a solvent/diluent for the organic phase. (I) are useful as intermediates. Large excess of NH3 or amines (which necessitates recycle) are not used, formation of disulphimides is inhibited, uniform prod. is obtd. and high throughout is possible with conventional equipment.
