A storage-stable mixt. is described for yielding an antimicrobially active soln. when dissolved in water. The mixt. contains (a) an H2O-donor, (I) and >=1 odourless or weakly-smelting carboxylic acid anhdride, (II), melting at >=40 degrees C, and opt. (b) inert fillers. In water (II) dissolve to weakly-smelling carboxylic acids and are converted by H2O2 into weakly-smelling water-soluble percarboxylic acids having in high anti-microbial activity. The disinfectant solns. obtd. can be used in the food industry, in disinfecting medical and dental instruments, and for cleaning articles in hospitals. The addn. of mixt. of (I) and (II) to water, in place of the individual components, improves dissolution and increases percarboxylic acid yield. |
