abstract | A detonating capsule intended esp. for pioneer explosive charges, either in industrial or military use, consists of a metal or plastics tube containing the initial explosive charge and a detonating cord leading into this tube and firmly crimped into it. Between the end of the detonating cord and the initial charge is an amplifying or intensifying charge. The amplifier charge may be seated directly at the end of the cord in intimate contact with the powder core of the detonating cord. Increased reliability of detonation, partic after long storage times for which moisture-excluding casings or the like are not absolutely effective. |
