abstract | Dyestuff blocking cpd. (I) contains a halogen or epoxy gp. linked with an anionic gp. via an aliphatic organic bridging gp. (I) pref. has the formula X-R-A (in which X is halogen or epoxy; R is an (un)substd. divalent aliphatic hydrocarbyl gp., esp. a methylene gp.; A is a carboxylic, sulphonic or thiosulphuric acid gp.). Na 2,3-epoxy-1-propane-sulphate (Ia) is esp. suitable. (I) are claimed for use for colourless reactive dyeing of (polyamide) textiles, esp. those contg. keratin fibres, in an amt. of 0.5-10wt.% w.r.t. the textile, which is then dyed with anionic dyestuffs. It is esp. useful for the prodn. of mottled or differential effects in dyeing and printing. In an example, epichlorhydrin ws reacted with a mixt. of NaHSO3 and Na2SO3, giving Na 3-chloro-2-hydroxy-1-propane-sulphonate (Ib) and this was treated with Na3PO4 soln., forming (Ia) by ring closure. If wool was printed with a paste contg. (Ia) or (Ib) before dyeing with a blue anionic dyestuff, a dark blue/light blue effect was obtd. with (Ib) and white/blue with (Ia). |
