titleOfInvention DEVICE FOR CRUCIBLE-FREE ZONE MELTING OF A SEMI-CONDUCTIVE CRYSTAL ROD PROVIDED AT ITS LOWER END WITH THE MELTED SEED CRYSTAL
abstract Crucible-free zone melting equipment for a vertical semiconductor crystal rod with a seed crystal fused to the bottom has an axially movable bar in (partial) contact with the core region, which consists of >=3 links with swivelling arms, as in DT 2548050, the upper part of the swivelling arms consisting of a 2-pronged fork, supported in a playfree swivelling arm, the tips of which are provided with bearing surfaces for the upper and lower region of the cone. Very long and thick Si rods can be supported without shifting. Pref. the tips consist of inert material provided with a substance which adheres or fuses to the cone. Contact pills of AgCl, AgI, CuCl2 or solid alkali hydroxide are specified. The rods holding the bearing surface consist of Si or quartz, whilst the swivelling arms consist (partly) of Ti.
