In the protection of powdery feed concentrates by dispersing them in a solution fo a polymer and subsequently removing the solvent, (a) before removing the solvent the dispersion is added to a non-polar oil and (b) often removing the solvent the polymer-protected feed concentrate particles are sepd off from the non-polar oil and washed with a readily volatile solvent for the oil. Use of the non-polar oil imparts a globular form to the particles. The polymer coating protects the feed concentrate against the effects of moisture during storage and processign without inhibiting absorption after feeding to animals. The polymer used is pref. a cellulose deriv (e.g. acetylcellulose, acetylpphthalylcellulose, acetylpropionylcellulose or acetylbutyrylcellulose), pref. used in an amt of 3-15% of the total dry wt of the prod. The solvent for the polymer is pref. acetone or dioxan. |
