titleOfInvention MEANS AND PROCEDURES FOR REGENERATING AND REVENUE WEATHERED SURFACES OR SURFACE LAYERS OF MOLDED PARTS OR ITEMS MADE OF THERMOPLASTIC PLASTICS
abstract Compsn. to restore and improve the surface of thermoplastic components after exposure to light and weather consist of (a) >70 (85) wt% organic solvent which swells but does not dissolve the thermoplastic, and (b) 5-0.1 (2.5-0.5) wt. % of >=1 UV absorbers and/or light stabilisers for the thermoplastic, which are soluble in (a). Used for application to PVC, polyolefins, polymethacrylate, etc. in the form of facade sheet, window frames or profiles, gutters, rain pipes, benches, corrugated and roofing sheet, building components, packaging containers etc. Very short drying times and low flammability are achieved, the compsns. requiring no special drying equipment. Protection is given against further weathering. Application may be by brush, sponge, cloth, roller, etc. without damage to the component, which may be treated in situ.
