titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING AROMATIC CARBONAMIDES |
abstract | In the prodn. of aromatic carboxamides of the formula Ar-CONH2 (I) (where Ar is an aromatic hydrocarbon residue opt. substd. by gps. inert under the reaction conditions) by reaction of aromatic hydrocarbons Ar-H (II) with a carbon-nitrogen cpd. in HF at elevated temp., there is used as the carbon-nitrogen cpd. oxalic acid diamide H2N-CO-CO-NH2 (III) and the reaction is carried out in >=90 wt.% HF at 25-100 degrees C pref. 50-70 degrees C. (I) are useful e.g. as intermediates for pharmaceuticals dyestuffs and plant protection agents. Simple process using stable starting materials, Catalyst losses are minimal, and pollution problems are minimised. |
