titleOfInvention | SAFETY STEERING DEVICE FOR BICYCLES AND MOTORCYCLES |
abstract | The handlebars of a two wheeled vehicle are covered with a thick layer of foam material. The crossbar (3) is attached to the vertical steering pillar (1) by a spacer block which projects forwards so that the ball (9) can be built into the assembly without any projecting parts and also enclosed by the foam material. The nut on top of the steering pillar and the nut securing the crossbar are also embedded in foam. The lever (11) for ringing the ball can also be similarly embedded. The layer is intended as a protection against injury, since no parts are allowed to project and thus form a source of injury in the event of a collision. The layer also acts as a vibration absorber, and a protection against cold, since no metal parts contact the hands of the cyclist. |
