titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR CONTINUOUS CRYSTALLIZATION
abstract Crystallisation process contains a series of stages in each of which partial crystallisation occurs. The mixture enters a separation stage, as it leaves the final stage. There is a separation between fine crystals and the coarser ones required as product by maintaining an upwards velocity of feed liquor in the crystal outlet passage. The coarse crystals from each stage are fed back to the previous stage on that there is a gradual growth of crystals from one end of the process to the other. The crystal product is taken off in equilibrium with the saturated feed liquor while the spent liquor leaves from the other end of the process. Used for industrial crystallisations esp. of Al(OH)3. The process is simple and economic, it gives a uniform product of reasonable size and is not sensitive to other process variations.
