abstract | Prepn. of acetonitrile derivs. of formula (I) and certain new cpds. (I), are claimed: (where R1 is an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic gp.; each R4 is independently an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, araliphatic or aromatic gp., or N(R4)2 is a heterocyclic ring; R5 is O R1 or N(R4)2). Cpds. (I; R5 = OR1 are prepd. by reacting a carbonium salt of formula (IIa) with a 1,1-diaminoacetonitrile of formula (III):(where X is a complex halide or cyanide anion; R2 and R3 are aliphatic gps. or NR2R3 is a heterocyclic gp.). Cpds. (I; R5 = N(R4)2) are prepd. by reacting a carbonium salt of formula (IIb) with an alkali metal cyanide: The new cpds. (I) are those where R1, R4 and R5 are defined as above, with the proviso that when R5 is OR1 and both R1 gps. are Et, at least one R4 gp. must be other than Me. (I) are useful as intermediates for dyes, imino-orthoesters, orthocarbonate esters, guanidinium salts and pesticides. |
