titleOfInvention PROCESS FOR WORKING UP REACTION MIXTURES CONTAINING CYCLOHEXANOL AND CYCLOHEXANONE
abstract A reaction mixt. contg. cyclohexanol (I) and cyclohexanone (II), obtd. by oxidn. of cyclohexane with O2 (O2-contg. gas) in the liq. phase at 130-200 degrees C and 5-25 bars, is processed in 2 stages with an aq. soln. of an alkali metal hydroxide and/or carbonate. The fresh aq. soln. is added in the second stage. The alkaline effluent sepd. from the second stage is contacted with fresh reaction mixt. in presence of an inert gas; the inert gas is sepd. before the second stage. The treatment is pref. with NaOH or Na2CO3; the inert gas is the waste gas obtd. in the oxidn. of cyclohexane; treatment in both stages is at 100-150 degrees C; and alkali consumption can still be further reduced by addn. of a heavy metal cpd., pref. a Co cpd. The consumption of alkali is considerably reduced and there is a smaller amt. of waste water to be purified.
