abstract |
An infusion or transfusion pump is automatically controlled to vary the dosage rate in accordance with a continuously measured body parameter. The contraction-inducing infusion is controlled in accordance with the foetal heart-beat rate and the intra-uterine pressure. The analogue measurements are digitised in a discriminator supplied with a number of adjustable threshold valves. The square-wave outputs are supplied to an evaluator which analyses the amplitude states and their variation, as well as the duration and/or frequency of these states, the arrive at an overall classification of the condition of the patient. This is applied to control logic for the pump. |
