titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF 1,1,1-TRIFLUORO-2-CHLORAETHANE |
abstract | (I), opt. mixed with CF2Cl-CH2Cl (II), is prepd. by the liq. phase fluorination of stabiliser-free C2HCl3 with anhydrous HF, using a catalyst mixt. of (a) >=1 Sb- or As cpd. and (b) >=1 metal cpd. esp. transition metal cpd. Low-boiling, incombustible, non-toxic (I) is used as a component of aerosol packs, hair-shampoos, gaseous-pain-killer compsns. and as a substitute for perhalogenated fluorochloroalkanes which resist atmos. degradation (II) can be converted to (I) or used as solvent, cleaner or intermediate e.g. for CF2=CHCl prepn. Catalyst inhibition by stabilisers is prevented. 99.99 % pure (I) is obtd. quickly, in high yields, e.g. >=90%, using low catalyst proportions, e.g. 0.005-0.2 (0.01-0.1) mol (a) and >=0.001-0.5 (0.01-0.1) mol (b) wrt C2HCl3. |
