titleOfInvention | POLYURETHANE BINDING AGENT |
abstract | Polyurethane binders are made by reaction of (A) a prepolymer contg. free NCO gps., made from a polyester or polyether polyol and a polyisocyanate, in NCO/OH ratio 2-15:1, with (B) a crosslinking agent consisting of triethanolamine, trimethylol propane and/or polyhydroxy polyether, in an amt. of 1-15(6-9) pts. per 100 pts. prepolymer. Used for mfr. of composite sheet materials in mixts. with fibres, chips and granules, e.g. scrap plastics granules or rubber scrap from tyre retreading. The sheets are for use as floor coverings, esp. drainage flooring for use in stables, outdoor paths, etc. The binders give adequate resistance to hydrolysis, alkalis, acids and feces, and much better mechanical properties, e.g., tensile strength, than known polyurethane binders. |
