titleOfInvention FINALLY DISTRIBUTED INORGANIC POWDER AND ORGANIC POLYMERS CONTAINING ADHESIVES
abstract An adhesive prod. and/or coating mass for mineral fibres consists of a soln. of >=1 alkali metal silicate contg.(a) >=1 finely-divided inorganic material contg. mineralogically >=20% kaolinite, and (b) >=1 H2O-soluble, alkali-resistant organic polymer, partic. a polymethacrylate. The compsn. pref. contains 5-45 esp. 7-20 wt.% (w.r.t. total mixt). of component (a), and 1-20 pref. 3-12 wt.% aq. alkaline soln. (at 5-15%) of component (b). The compsn. can contain 0.1-10 pref. 0.5-3 wt% H2O-soluble silicone prod. pref. an alkali metal salt of methyl-silicate acid and/or 0.05-5 partic. 0.1-1 wt% Al salt of a 16-26C linear aliphatic carboxylic acid. It can also contain =1 wt% ammonium or sodium polyacrylate and 0.3-1.5 wt% wax of microcrystalline polyethylene or polypropylene. The coating material can be used e.g. for insulation and protection. the prod. has good storage stability, e.g. retaining its quality over a period >=12 months when stored in closed containers. The adhesive or coating does not become brittle, irrespective of drying conditions, and has high resistance to water.
