abstract The rainfall measuring device has a catcher surface exposed to the rain, and the collected water is fed to a measuring cylinder. The catcher funnel(1) ends in a cylindrical receiving vessel(2) communicating with a measuring tube(3) of an insulating plastic, coated on its outside with a metal foil(5), of constant width over the tube(3) height. It forms a measurement capacitor connected to an oscillator(6) and a measurement transformer(7). The output of the measurement circuit is taken to a quantity/time plotter.
