titleOfInvention HALOGEN-FREE FLAME ACRYLNITRILE POLYMERIZES
abstract Halogen-free flame-retardant acrylonitrile polymers or prods. contg. >=0.1 wt.% metal ions, complex-bound through gps. formed by reaction of the polymer with hydrazine. The polymer is pref. first treated with hydrazine soln., then with an acid, and finally reacted with a metal salt soln. Used as fibres, yarns, foils or film. Excellent fire resistance is obtd. without use of chlorine or ph osphorus cpds., so that no poisonous gases are evolved in contact with flame. The prods. show little or no discolouration and have excellent resistance to hydrolysis by acids or bases.
