abstract Phosphoric esters of ascorbic acid are prepared by reacting ascorbic acid derivatives which contain a group of the formula I with a phosphorylating agent in the presence of a tertiary amine. The reaction medium used is a compatible aqueous solvent which does not hinder the phosphorylation. To prepare diascorbic acid phosphate, the use of the amine is dispensed with. The reaction is carried out at pH values of at least 8 and, in the preparation of diascorbic acid phosphate, of at least 10. The process gives remarkably high yields. <IMAGE>
