titleOfInvention | METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF NITROGEN BY CHEMILUMINESCENCE |
abstract | Technique for determining the total chemically combined N2 content of a sample comprises decomposing the sample in one step in the absence of a catalyst in an O2-rich atmos. of O2 and an inert gas at above 700 degrees C so that all the chemically bound N2 is recovered as NO. The NO produced by the decomposition is made to undergo a chemiluminescent reaction with O2 and the magnitude of the chemiluminescent reaction determined to indicate the quantity of chemically combined N2 in the sample. Method is applicable to samples in liq., solid or gaseous form. The detector results can be provided in the form of a digital display proportional to the quantity of chemical-bound N2 detected in the sample. |
