titleOfInvention | PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF 1,4-DICYANE BUTEN |
abstract | (I), prepn. by reaching butenediol esters, (II), with at least equiv. quantities of HCN at 60-160 degrees C., takes place in aq. solns. of CuBr contg. alkali bromide, under pressures >=2 (pref. 2-20) bar. Mol. ratio CuBr to (II) is (0.3-0.6) : 1. The alkali bromide is esp. NaBr. The aq. solns. pref. also contain NH4Br and up to 10 wt.% HBr. (I) can be hydrogenated to hexamethylene diamine, used in polyamide prodn. On replacing previously used CuCl + alkali halide by CuBr + alkali bromide, yields of (I) can be increased, e.g. from 30% to >80%. Process can be effected economically on a large scale. Aq. solns. are handled more easily than fused salts. (I) is easily separated. |
