abstract |
In the prodn. of vaccines against feline panleukopenia virus pathogenic panleukopenia virus is passaged at least 80 times through cat kidney cells and then at least 18 times through permanent tissue cells of felids or mustelids, then the attenuated virus thus obtained increased on cat foetal cells and converted into a vaccine. Attenuated panleukopenia virus strain BW 103 is claimed. Used for immunisation for cats against panleukopenia (infectious gastoenteritis). The antigen is highly pure. Since the attenuated virus is raised on homologous tissues, allergic reactions to the vaccine are avoided. The method of raising the virus permits a product of uniform quality to be produced. The attenuated vaccine obtained gives more rapid protection than existing vaccines. |
