The refining compsn. for the removal of S, non-metallic inclusions, and also P from iron melts, contains Fe ore or Fe sinter apart from an Al contg. components, Na nitrate, Ca oxide and Ca fluoride,. Pref. the slag is composed of (wt.%) 8-20 Al contg. component, 15-25 Na nitrate, 5-17 Ca fluoride, 10-45 Fe ore or sinter, balance Ca oxide. The compsn. forms a slag and reduces both the S and P content of the Fe melt, and does not require the use of an electric furnace for the production of the refining agent. |
