titleOfInvention | FUELS FOR GASOLINE ENGINES |
abstract | Detergent additive comprises tri-esters of nitro-triacetic acid and/or tetra-esters of ethylene diamine tetracetic acid with 6-22 (6-18)C alcohols. The esters are pref. derived from 8-12C alcohols, esp. from 9-11 C alcohols made from olefins by OXO-synthesis. Amount added is 10-2000 (40-250) ppm. Prepn. is esp. by esterification of the free acids with alcohols in presence of a catalyst, e.g. mineral acid or pref. butyl titanate. The carburetter and inlet channels are kept clean. Deposits on the inlet valves are prevented by the high thermal stability of the additive, and existing deposits removed. The additives are burnt almost completely in the engine. |
