abstract The U section frame is designed for e.g. windows in railway passenger coaches. Insulating glass pane is held in the frame by sealing elements. These comprise a U-profiled batten, of silicone rubber, applied soft, with smaller shank than the frame U-piece, glued to the peripheral areas of the pane; together with sealing mass filling the open spaces between the batten and the U-shanks. The adhesive medium is silicone rubber of the same type. The inside of the batten may be fitted with lengthways channels for adhesive, at the crossover from stem to shanks. Complete pane edge sealing is not affected by powerful cleaning agents, and the glazing is protected from effects of vibration or temp. variations.
