The compsn. comprises a chroman deriv. of formula (I) or its acceptable salt, ester or amide, plus a diluent suitable for topical application. - In (I), R1-6 are H, halo, lower alkyl or alkoxy (both opt. substd.), OH, lower alkenyl, benzyloxy, or NO2; X is opt. unsatd. opt. substd. linear or branched polymethylene chain which can be interrupted by >=1 of carbocycles, O-contg. heterocycles, O or CO. - (I) are already used for treating allergies, esp. asthma by inhalation. They are now used to treat conditions such as psoriasis, skin ulcers, and esp. atopic eczema, in humans and animals. A typical compsn. contains 4 w/w % di Na salt of 1,3-bix(2-carboxychromane-5-yl oxy)propan-2-ol in a paraffin base. |
