titleOfInvention NEW SALT OF 1,3-BIS- (BETA-AETHYL-HEXYL) -5-AMINO-5-METHYL-HEXAHYDROPYRIMIDINE AND THE PROCESS FOR THEIR PRODUCTION
abstract Novels salts of 1,3-bis(-(beta-ethylhexy)-5-amino-5-methyl-hexahydropyrimidine are of formula (I), where n = 1 or 2. X = COOH, OH, NH2, SO3H or SO2NH2 and can be same or different when n = 2. When X = COOH or OH then it must be at the 4 posn.). Hexetidine (II) is known as an antimicrobial, active against bacteria and some fungi, esp. as an antiseptic and antibiotic for the oral mucosa. (I) have the same activities but are esp. useful as a means of purifying crude (II) to give a tasteless product, since (I) are insoluble whereas salts of the impurities in (II) are very soluble. LD50 for (I) is 1.2 - 2.5 g/kg (p.o. in mice). Salts of (II) with terephthalic, 4-sulphamoylbenzoic, 4-hydroxybenzoic, 2-aminobenzoic, 4-aminobenzoic, 4-aminosalicylic and 5-sulphosalicylic acids are specifically claimed.
