Codeine orotate and mixts. of codeine and/or its salts or derivs with orotic acid and/or its salts or derivs. are new. Also new are cpds. and mixts. of hydrocarbon leror phenol, noscapine, dextrometorphan and morphine and/or their salts and derivs. with orotic acid and/or its salts and derivs. The presence of orotic acid increased the effectiveness of codeine as an analgesic and antitussive agent. Smaller doses of codeine can therefore be used with a corresp. redn. of the usual side effects due to codeine (constipation nausea and respiratory depression). |
