Skin is lubricated or softened by applying a compsn. having a pH of about 7-8.1 comprising water, carboxypolymethylene and 1-50 wt.% of a lubricating agent having a particle size 0.01-30 mu and which is chlorotrifluoroethylene resin, the homopolymer of tetrafluoroethylene, the homopolymer of hexafluoropropylene, or the copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene having the formula -(CF2CF2-CF2CFCF3)n where n is an integer. Used in the prepn. of cosmetic ointments, solves, creams, lipsticks, rouge etc. The lubricant compsns. give a high degree of skin protection with emoliency, are exceptionally stable, greaseless and very durable. The compsns are odourless and do not become rancid. The lubricant is inert to skin tissue and nonagglomerative. |
