titleOfInvention | NEW ROENTHY CONTRAST AGENTS |
abstract | New X-ray contrast agents contain as radiopaque substance a dicarboxylic acid dianilide of formula (I): (where X is 1-10C alkylene opt. interrupted by O-atoms) in the form of a poorly soluble, powdery salt. The calcium salts of cpds. (I) (e.g. of 3,6-dioxa-suberic acid bis(2,4,6-triiodo-3-carboxyanilide) are claimed as novel cpds. Also claimed is the magnesium salt of 4,7,10,13-tetraoxahexadecane-1,16-dioyl bis(3-carboxy-2,4,6-triiodoanilide). The powdery, poorly soluble salts of (I) can be obtd. in the form of powders of particle ca 2-50 (pref. 3-20)mu m, which can be administered by inhalation without the need for intubation. The salts do not give rise to intolerance reactions in the bronchial system, and form a uniform radiopaque layer in the bronchial system without flowing into the alveolus. The salts are eliminated from the bronchial system within 24 hrs., by transport back into the throat and/or on account of their (slight) water-solubility. |
