abstract Tetralone and indanone derivs. of formula (I) and their acid-addn. salts are new: (where R1 is H, OH, 1-4C alkoxy, 3-6C cycloalkoxy, F, Cl, Br, NO2, NH2, mono-or di(1-4C alkyl)amino, 1-6C acyloxy or 1-4C acylamino, and R2 is H, OH or 1-4C alkoxy, or R1 and R2 are methylenedioxy, R3 is H or Me, Ar is phenyl opt. substd. by 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, F, Cl, Br and/or CF3, n = 1 or 2). Cpds. (I) are CNS depressants (e.g. tranquillisers, sedatives, neuroleptics and/or antidepressants), antiemetic agents, and bactericides and fungicides (e.g. active against Pseudomonas spp) and are also useful as intermediates for other medicaments.
